Welcome to Great Horwood Cricket Club’s website which went live in 2006. The Club would like to thank all our sponsors for their support which is absolutely essential for the Club to continue to progress as outlined in the Development plan included elsewhere on the website.

Great Horwood Cricket Club has been in existence for around 50 years. From initially fielding one side per week we have now grown to having two sides playing league cricket on Saturdays, a Sunday team playing friendlies and a midweek team playing league cricket. In addition the Club has two youth teams playing league cricket and a ladies team. Over the years of the Club’s life, membership has grown from around fifteen players initially to its current level of around one hundred. The Clubhouse has moved on from an old railway station waiting room with no running water or electricity to the current Clubhouse with large changing rooms, an umpires’ room and storage rooms. Equally importantly there is a bar and main function room where the Club holds many member functions throughout the year.

On the field of play we have an excellent pitch and square in which the Club invests each year to continue improving it. There are two good sightscreens and practice net facilities and this year the plan is to improve these net facilities by adding an artificial practice wicket and new netting.

The Club focus on the field is to continue improving its success on the field and attracting new members whilst developing the Youth Section. The Club will also continue to run its successful Village 20:20 Competition and the George Ridgway Cup contested between the two Horwood villages. The very successful annual Ladies Six-a-Side competition will continue to be the feature of the ladies’ calendar.

We look forward to the continuing support of sponsors, members and guests to keep progressing both on and off the field and Great Horwood Cricket Club would like to thank all those people who have helped in the past and looks forward to seeing them at the Club during the year.
